GARDEN OF EDEN, LUCAS, KANSAS
After we left Glacier National Park, we drove southeast toward Lucas, Kansas where we visited the odd Garden of Eden. Mr. Dinsmoor, who fought in the Civil War, wanted to bury his first wife in their yard. The townsfolk made him bury her in the town's cemetary. However, after a few days, he dug her up and reburried her in their yard. So the townsfolk couldn't dig her up, he encased her in concrete. He liked concrete so much, he constructed many political structures out of concrete. At the age of 80, he remarried a 20 year old. Their two children are alive today. When he died, he was buried above ground and is still on display today. Very strange
Joan is standing outside Mr. Dinsmoor's Garden of Eden home. All the structures around the cabin are made of concrete.
This concrete structure is a political statement in which Dinsmoor depicts his feelings toward lawyers, doctors, preachers, and bankers.
Sonny is standing in front of the structure that houses Mr. Dinsmoor and his first wife. He is buried above ground and can be viewed.
